Yorkhill and Kelvingrove residents raised concerns over parking permits, Low Emission Zone (LEZ) policies, and local taxation fairness.
With Ward Councillor Bailie Christy Mearns present, frustrations spilled over:
🚗 LEZ rules pushing congestion into neighbourhoods
💷 Soaring parking permit charges while public transport remains “broken”
🏠 Landlords and students avoiding taxes while locals foot the bill
“It’s just not fair. We’re being hit from all sides,” one resident said.
Councillor Mearns defended the policies, citing climate goals and council budget shortfalls, but residents demanded urgent changes in student taxation, motorway tolls, and transport improvements.

With an elected councillor present for the first time in a couple of months, residents seized the chance to voice their frustrations—and their anger was palpable.
Residents expressed frustration over daily parking congestion, blaming stricter LEZ rules that push drivers to park in surrounding neighbourhoods before continuing into the city on foot or by bus.
“It’s just not fair. We’re being hit from all sides,” one resident said.
