Calls for mandatory licensing and registration plates for e-riders are intensifying following a string of troubling incidents involving electric bikes.
Last month, a woman carrying her daughter was nearly run over by a Deliveroo rider near the Post Office at Charing Cross.
The rider’s reckless approach led to a near collision, raising serious concerns about pedestrian safety.
This follows a similar incident last year when an 89-year-old woman was struck by an e-bike in Renfield Street at its junction with Sauchiehall Street.
And the issue was again raised at Tuesday night’s Merchant and Trongate Community Council meeting.
One resident shared her concerns, saying she had almost been hit by an electric bike several times while walking on the pavement.
